Consent Agenda

Action Items

  1. CALS Agriculture Institute, Soldiers to Farmers Program, Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, NC (Space Request #19-03): H. Stafford stated that CALS has requested expanded space for the program. The Committee approved the Space Request.

Information / Discussion Items

  1. Backfill Plan for Fitts-Woolard Hall (Info Item 18.12): Staff support reviewed an updated scenario for the Fitts-Woolard backfill of Daniels, Page, and Mann Halls. This option focuses on STEM teaching, DELTA testing, CHASS and Design space gains, and COE space consolidation. Review of teaching space requirements will be needed with the building occupant changes as part of the backfill plan development. The USC had positive feedback on the direction of this backfill scenario and requested its further development along with scenarios for the other impacted buildings.
  2. Administrative Services Annex (formerly Libraries Satellite Shelving) (Info Item 18.06): S. Jones- Humienny stated that the building is currently occupied by NC State Libraries, whose Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) will expire in March 2021. The Space Principles’ priorities direct programs to house long-term storage items at off-campus locations or at the Central Warehouse. The building, located in a prime administrative support neighborhood, could potentially solve space shortages for a number of service units. The USC directed Staff Support to work with the NC State Libraries to review the building contents and opportunities to reduce/relocate materials by the end of the 2021 lease.
  3. Projects at DH Hill Library Update: L. Johnson reviewed the design statuses of the projects at Erdahl Cloyd, DH Hill and Founders Drive that include the Academic Success Center, North Exterior Improvements, Erdahl Cloyd Wing Entrance Improvements, and the Brickyard Entrance Improvements. C. Smith provided anticipated timeframes for the projects: the Erdahl Cloyd entry will open in May 2019 and the DH Hill entry at the Brickyard will close after graduation 2019. The projects along Founders Drive will conclude before classes start in fall 2019.
  4. Academic Success Center at DH Hill Backfill: L. Johnson stated that Staff Support is working with DASA regarding the Academic Success Center backfill plan. Since the backfill plan impacts the Talley Student Center, Staff Support is also working with Enrollment Management and Services and Campus Enterprises regarding the various requests for space in Talley. The backfill plans for the Academic Success Center and Talley Student Union Bookstore will be brought to the March USC meeting.
  5. Capital Projects Status (Info Item 17.03): C. Smith reviewed projects and provided a handout.
  6. Other Business: The USC requested a memo be sent to the Dean of CALS to request that college and NC Plant Science Initiative leadership work with Staff Support to develop the Plant Science Backfill plan for review and approval.

Meeting Adjourned at 3:25 PM.
